24hrs run was 120.7 nms
however this drop was mainly due to going into Gisbourne as there is a long lead
into the
marina. We are now well on our way to Napier we are going
to leave ‘Duende’ there because the weather forecast for the rest of the trip at
the moment is very dire! possibly 50 knots in the Cook Strait this weekend is
nobodies idea of fun. So to this end we are going to take another look at it
next week and plan for a time when conditions are more
favourable. For those of you that aren’t familiar
with the east coast of the North Island, from Napier down to Cape Palliser there
is no where to hide to avoid bad weather, which means once we leave
Napier we are pretty much committing to going straight
through to Nelson, with the only bail out place Wellington
Harbour. So for now this will be the last blog albeit I
will post a one liner to let you know about our safe arrival into
Napier Regards
