1600 We Have had quite a rough
day winds against us, partial main out dropping off the lay line to keep the
yacht steadier and reasonably big beam on seas. However with the motor assisting
in pushing us forward so we donât get slammed by the seas it has been
uncomfortable but bearable and we have made good progress, we covered 170 nms in
the first 24hrs and hope to repeat that today. This after it has to ease
slightly in the sea way and the wind has dropped so we are all looking forward,
to a smoother ride tonight as the wind is supposed to drop and should pan round
to the north if the forecast is to be believed, to date though it hasnât been
giving us what is forecast so I wonât hold my breath. Currently we have a tidal
stream pushing us to the east and we are travelling at about 8.4knts toward the
northern point of New Zealand with the engine ticking over at 1200 rpm. Raj
cooked us a great feed last night and we all caught up on some
sleep. Most of the crew are
handling the conditions well, the only victim being Rob who has feed the fish a
couple of times but is still high spirits and is currently taking video footage
or the big ways. We are looking forward to some catching a fish later this
evening and the weather abating, Iâm pretty sure that Rob would like the seas to
calm down as well! Sat Coms have been difficult all day with the yacht swaying
around and attempts to connect to the net have so far been dropped due to bad
connections. Worst case scenario is we
all fit well feed and heading for NZ. I will try and send another update
tomorrow.....on personal note Iâm questioning my sanity continuing to sail in
this bloody sea!!! but I always do that any
wayâ Regards
