Well after all the changes
we made to Orongo's systems for both safety and communications everything is
going well we have covered 156nms in the first 24hrs and the seas have been
mostly kind to us....well that is Ian and I, Natua took a seasickness pill as a
precaution before we left and it made him sick!!! go figure that's not much of a
marketing campaign!!!
He is fine today without
the pill and woofed down his his brekkie in fine
form.
All the electronics are
talking to each other nicely and the new batteries we put and other
modifications to the wiring has really brought the power generation amps. In
fact today we are running all the usual stuff i.e. Autopilot, Chart plotter, GPs
etc, even as well as running a 800 watt inverter to power the laptop and charge
things and the voltage in the batteries still held 13.9volts, so we are all
pleased with our efforts.
If we can keep up this
pace we should be getting into Manihiki on Thursday
evening.
On a personal note I would
like to thank everybody helped with the modifications to Orongo weather it
was good advice or hard labour I know we all appreciated the contributions.
I know this is a cop out that I haven't named names, but I think I get
away with as I suffer from short term memory
lost!!!
But I will try to name a
few Dam! I can't even remember my name now LOL
Well that was a first day
and no we haven't caught any fish yet, haven't tried.
Regards
Ian, Natua &
Mark
PS Jim, don't forget to
text the Rugby results to the Sat Phone
thks.
