Great Sailing over the past 24 hrs we had a total mileage of
167 nms for noon to noon
although the seas were a little confused and were occasionally
hitting the stern quarter ( too often for comfortable sailing) Wilhelm was
trekking along quite nicely. The weather forecast we had before we left has
occurred ahead of schedule and I'm now waiting for the next set of grib files so
that i can see what’s happening in the next 5 days.
when I woke up this morning Ashley had done a sterling job of
holding the fort and Jess is now. We let a little more sail out as daylight
showed its face and are now sitting on solid 8’s and for one brief moment we saw
11 knts SOG.
The seaway is still confused the only difference is that it is
swinging around behind us, it just hasn’t fully committed yet so the waves are
coming from all directions.
Our ETA at the moment is the 18/19....../20 arrival in Auckland
so anyone who is reading this and thinking of bringing some Rum down to the
yacht on our arrival should bare that in mind! (you know you
are...lol)
Although uncomfortable the general consensus is that it would
be good to hold on to this wind for another 4 days to put some mileage on the
board, although a change in wind and wave direction would smooth the way a
little.
