NZT We managed to get the
generator going yesterday afternoon and fully charge up the good bank of house
batteries we are only using the essential navigation items and have drastically
reduced our energy consumption. The batteries are holding up well and we are
only using 12v items to keep them in a good state as long as possible within the
next 1 1/2 days we will be close enough to the commercial fishing guys that are
out off the west coast of the north island and will be looking to get some
diesel off the fishermen to finish the rest of the
trip. We are all fine and in high
spirits and at this moment we are making about 5 knots to North Cape. Mustang is
sailing well but is suffering from a little leeway due to the lack of the centre
board, which would make it a lot easier to travel to windward. However having
too beat directly into winds from the east is not making the trip any quicker,
not unsafe at all just slow.
In order to combat the lack
of speed we all are getting into and reading the vast array of books on board.
My favourite so far is a book about cryogenic freezing. Iâll let you read it for
yourselves itâs quite SIC in places but entertaining never the
less. Anyway got to go
now. Regards
