Surfing!
The wind gradually picked up yesterday as forecasted. By sunset we were had
two reefs in the main, at 2300hrs the third reef went in and that is how
we stayed all night. The winds are now 30 – 40 knots and the waves have built to
about four metres. We are averaging seven knots and surfing down the big waves
at ten to fifteen knots, spray flying. Our amazing auto pilot can cope but it is
a wiggly path, steering by hand allows us to anticipate and take advantage of
the surf.
Forecast
We are hoping to ride this wind and stay ahead of the predicted calm that
will develop in this area over the next couple of days. If we can, then this
could be a fast passage....Hooray! Perhaps giving us time to stop enroute and
deliver on the scheduled arrival we have promised.
