After doing a few jobs on the boat Monday and Tuesday, which involved spending more money in the chandlery, changing a water filter for the first time since we got the boat 12 years ago , despite it having a life of one year (nobody has died onboard I should add) , only to then discover that the filter pipe line wasn’t connected to the tap, and also doing an amazing repair to the windlass control ( only hitch was the anchor and about 30m of chain had a swim during the job) …. I thought it was time to go on tour with Pina.
I had been warned off any such trip by an engineer in the marina who told me all Portuguese drivers are crazy and out to destroy cyclists, but I think that is the same the world over and I had no problems.
Day one Wednesday was back across the beasty hills to the north, staying at Ribamar to the north of the surfie town of Ericeira, inspired by son in law (and surfie!)Ollie who had been there.
Thursday I headed inland to Torres Vedras, on a day trip ( up and down multiple smaller hills) which rang bells from history lessons as being important in Wellington’s era.
Today, Friday, started with First Swim in the ocean before retracing tracks back over the hills to Raven.
Some lovely scenery, good to get inland, many vicious guard dogs , friendly people and drivers no worse than
