Saturday 22nd January

We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in Sri Lanka. From the moment we arrived, when the guys tied our lines to shore, we instantly had a good feeling about the place and throughout the rest of our stay and journey around Sri Lanka we were not disappointed. The people could not have been friendlier, the food was tasty, the countryside was spectacular, the beaches were stunning - the whole country is magnificent. Our pilgrimage was one of the highlights of our trip so far and it'll be something we never forget. And so we are sad to be leaving. We could have spent much longer here, exploring at a much slower pace but unfortunately our timescale doesn't allow for that and we have to move on to the next part of our adventure, India.

All that is left to do is complete the administration to check out of the country, and then we will be on our way 360 miles to Cochin.

The navy give us the go ahead to leave

A film crew who'd been alongside us for days were filming in the harbour aboard a luxury schooner as we left
(the schooner had been covered with greaseproof paper to make it look old)
