Sunday 4th April

After an afternoon of music, reading and sail changes we ate our tea, corned beef and cheese on toast (comfort food) and settled down for our night watches. Mine were 18.00-21.00 and 03.00-06.00. The three hour watches have been working well and it really makes a difference having them rotate each night. Anyway it was a quiet night as usual but on my second watch, the early morning one I noticed lights to the North of us. Over the course of the night the boat moved across our stern and to the South. It was Blue Magic! We haven't seen them for days and days and we find it amazing how in this vast ocean we can just suddenly be so close.

There has been a lot of talk on the radio today about flying fish, mainly about how many were on Blue Magic's decks this morning. I'd say guess how many but you wouldn't be anywhere near. There were 125!!!! They'd had a wave over the cockpit and they can only presume that there must have been a shoal of the fish in the wave. One even hit Ashley, Chrissy's brother-in-law on the head! We thought they were doing well with 24 the other day but I think this must definitely be a record.

Another quiet day on board. Our time is taken up mainly by reading and listening to music and counting down the days!

All other boats seem to be doing well and making good progress. Sheila is still on Bionic even though Jaime is much better. As the seas have picked up they have prevented transferring her back to Miss Tippy. I'm sure she is being well looked after though.

Paul is now making a curry and I'm needed to point him in the direction of ingredients!
