After our trip into the cave we had a very strenuous journey of 4 miles over to Koh Ngai (Hai), a beautiful island with a glorious beach stretching down the whole of the east coast. Although we're supposed to be experiencing the north-east monsoons we've had very rocky nights when anchored on the west coast the last few nights so we made a calculated decision to anchor on the east coast and hope that the winds didn't change direction. The coast line was very picturesque with clear waters suitable for swimming and spotting the jelly fish and a few resorts ashore for us to find some food. Because the freezer is broken we have hardly any food on board and cooking meals for 4 people is becoming increasingly difficult, I think they're bored of vegetable stir-fry now and it's a good job as we've run out of veg!

Amy and Jack, our two little scouts, swam ashore and found out where we could use a credit card, as we have no local currency yet, funnily enough these islands don't have cash machines. After walking the length of the beach they picked a superb restaurant and bar, a contemporary ethnic vibed place on the far left side of the beach. And so as the sun went down we sat cross legged on a platform out on the beach to take in our surroundings and discuss how very lucky we all are. The evening then took a slower pace once we sat down in the restaurant. We'd ordered food to share between us and the Tippy crowd but dishes came in dribs and drabs, it was as if they only had one pan! The food was still good though and we all had a very enjoyable evening.
