Day 2 - Muirella Park

Before hitting the road we came across a termite mound higher than Amy

Once on the road we needed to re-fuel but Paul went the wrong side of the pump so the hose was fed through the window and door - a very comical moment!

Tonights campsite was Muriella Park which had unpowered sites and BBQ's that required us to collect firewood as we entered the site. We took a step back in standards but it was a lot of fun! True to form the rain started as we parked up so we arranged the vans in a circle so as to get as much coverage with the awnings all together. And before long all the men were settled down with a can of beer and their cool boxes at arms length!

We soon had a visit from Andy, the site owner, and his daughter Katherine. He was a real story teller and told a few good tales, one in particular about a girl who was killed by a crocodile in the creek next to the site two years ago. Brian filmed the story for his blog so you'll have to keep an eye open for it on www.rock2rock.co.uk. It's worth a watch!

Everyone sitting round listening to Andy's stories

Paul cooked the dinner whilst the girls roasted marshmallows

The rain was in for the night and the kids loved it. Annie spent hours filling up anything she can find with water to throw on the others.

It was raining so much than the containers were filling up in seconds. We were assured by Andy though that it was merely a shower. During the wet season the site would completely disappear and even the shower block would be fully submerged as the water can rise up to 4 metres!
