With no-where booked to stay the ten of us turned up at the beach hoping to find somewhere. We went straight to the Starfish Beach Cafe as it read well in the book, but we had failed to get through to them. They had no room! Then Putha appeared from out the back, fresh out the shower, wrapped only in a sarong offering to find us all a bed for the night. He disappeared off on his moped and returned with rooms for us all in a guesthouse down the road, the Blue Horizon. We liked this man and as we'd been driving for around 6 hours we had no intentions of getting our bags to the rooms, showering and re-dressing. We sat where we were and well and truly relaxed to the sound of the waves crashing a few metres away. We ate good food and danced to the music late into the night until the wine ran out and it was time for bed.

We enjoyed our last night with Hemantha and Michel

After a good nights rest it was difficult to lie in bed when it was a glorious morning and the beach and sea were so inviting. It was a perfect way to end our trip, we had the history, the city, the adventure, the countryside and the beach, all with fantastic company. But I think we are all looking forward to getting back to the boat and being in one place for more than a couple of hours as it has been very full on.
