Day 1

We finally left at 16:30 on Friday which was good news but unfortunately we were beating into the wind. However, once we got round the headland it died and we had nothing.

We organised our night watches with Paul taking the first 9-12 as he's always up late on the first night. Amy followed him and did 12-3 and then I had the early morning watch 3-6. It was a noisy night as the engine was on and off which we can handle, it's the heat down below that makes sleeping so difficult that's the worst thing to deal with. And because there is no wind, the air just isn't circulating inside, it's horrible!

Miss Tippy are close by, it's nice to sail with someone and be in vhf radio contact for a chit chat now and then. Seeing the lights on the horizon is also a comfort.

So far we've had a very calm seas and have desperately tried to sail for most of the day. It's difficult though as there is just so little wind and we can't sit out here and tootle all the way across as we do actually need to get there some time soon.

A bonus for going so slow is that we did have an inquisitive boobie land just outside the spray hood this morning. And we currently have two swallow type birds sat on the radar dome half way up the mast.
