Friday 10th June

Late on Wednesday night whilst celebrating Amy's return we received news that the Palmerton had arrived and anchored in Marmaris. Another sigh of relief as another stage is complete, now just the unloading to be done!

The Palmerton

But before all the work began and everyone went their separate ways Excelsior Tours were tasked with organising one final event, the final Blue Water Rally party! It was a chance for everyone to be together one last time (minus Sheila, Lica and the children), before people started to go their separate ways. The location was perfect - a restaurant high up the cliff side overlooking the bay and quite poignantly the Palmerton berthed alongside the quay. We had a real mixture of emotions as toasts were made and awards presented throughout the night and many laughs were had.

Reminiscing.....

Unloading of the first boats began at 06.30 on Friday morning and by the time that we made it down for breakfast at 9.00 they were on their third boat! We were 16th on the list so we didn't dream that we'd be off on the first day. However, later in the afternoon Amy and myself received a phone call from Paul telling us to get down there quickly and sure enough by 4 pm we were lowered back into the water, back to normality! They even managed another three boats after us as the unloading process was so much simpler than loading.

Back in Salalah we all gave keys to our boats to dockwise and these were returned to us the night before at the party. Once we were lowered into the water Paul threw Amy the key and said 'start the engine'....this was the key to the boat, not the engine. Roy, the loadmaster was removing the strops and we were soon to be free but we had no key. Panic set in and we thought they were in the hotel room but thankfully at the last minute they were unearthed in a drawer. That would have been embarrassing wouldn't it!

Goodbye Roy.....and goodbye to the Palmerton
