Friday 26th March

Early this morning Paul was stood in the companionway talking to Mark on the VHF when suddenly a flying fish flew passed his face and landed a few inches in front of him. It had flown through the peep hole in the spray hood and landed amongst all the ropes. This caused some amusement for the start of the day.

The seas have been a bit lumpy today and Amy has only managed to keep one meal down. One bonus is that she is hoping it will do wonders for her figure! She had borrowed a sea sickness relief watch from Chrissy but the batteries died today - oh dear! So it's back to horizontal watches for now.

Whilst Paul was forward fiddling with the sails the line started to run on the fishing rod. Amy jumped up and tried to lock the line but whatever was on the end kept pulling it out. She was really struggling trying not to lose the whole rod while Paul was running back shouting "I'm going to lose my line, i'm going to lose my line". Once he was back in the cockpit he too couldn't stop the line from running and struggled to keep hold of the rod. We ended up losing all of the line off Pauls favourite reel! We joked and came to the conclusion that it must have been a shark that took it. However, that evening Jaime on Bionic announced on the radio that he had actually caught a 2 metre shark. It took him an hour and a half to get it alongside. The shark looked him in the eye then flipped up and snapped the line. Jaime was quite relieved as he didn't want to catch a shark at all. So although we joked something pretty bloomin big stole our line!
