First light revealed a dull, damp, grey day. No boats, no birds, no nothing! (Ha, I’ve lied, a cargo ship, the MN Calibri has just popped up on the AIS as I type, how exciting)

I didn’t fare much better this morning as I’m low on energy and just feeling a bit off the pace so far today. The boat has a yawing motion as the waves are on our back quarter. Samaritan is trying her best, she’s just carried on all night, as deep down wind as we dare but not quite in the direction I need. Why does it always come back to needing a bloody spinnaker?

So I’m going to get up off my ass and try poling out the genoa to see if I can get a better angle without losing too much speed.

More in a minute.........
