| Our trip from Tom Owens Cays back to Placencia was motoring all the way. For a sail boat we seem to do an awful lot of motoring. I suppose the positive thing about that is that it means that the weather was beautifully calm and we are still running in the engines. We anchored off Placencia Cay and who should motor up about an hour later - 'Iguana Dance' with Eli, Marla and the adventure dogs Chispa & Coqui. We followed them over in our dinghy to a small man made island at the entrance to the lagoon where the dogs chased crabs and had a great time. Coqui did the charge around like a 'knob head' thing which looked so much like Rhodes (our dog) doing his ;knob head' thing. Chispa digging furiuosly for a crab while Coqui watches intently (and getting sprayed with sand but certainly not deterred by that small inconvenience). We decided to check out of Belize the next day and head toward Guatemala before the next cold front/norther was due to impact the region later in the week. We had breakfast at 'Wendy's' Restaurant on Tuesday morning with Eli and Marla. Really good omelette and Jacks, a Belize specialty - like a fried batter served plain as a side like toast or stuffed with tomatoes, ham, cheese, refried beans etc and yes certainly NO Calories (well just a few but oh so good). Took the 12.30pm Hokey Pokey across to Mango Creek where a taxi picked us up and took us to Immigration and Customs in Independence. $15BZ for Park Fees and we were stamped and ready head back to Placencia. The checkout took less than an hour so we had a 11/4 hour wait for the 2.30pm return Hokey Pokey trip. The Hokey Pokey waiting area at Mango Creek. Then some last minute food shopping before a wonderful dinner with Eli and Marla at Mojo's Restaurant, our goodbye for this season. Mojo's have half priced cocktails and appetisers from 5pm to 6.30pm every night. The drinks were oh so good and the food spectacular. Such a good night with special friends we will miss. |
