We are still in Puerto Linton, the rain has just stopped and we are getting a few amps through the solar panels. It is struggle in this weather (wet season) to get enough sun to keep up with our power needs (mainly the fridge/freezer). We have just had Alaine (French sailmaker) come to the boat to measure up a shade/rain catcher for the front deck. Communication entailed verbal in 3 languages (English, French & Spanish) and a lot of pointing, gestering, drawing & measuring, but we hope we explained what we wanted adequately as we have placed the order. It will be ready in 2 weeks, so we will come back from the San Blas to have it fitted. We attempt to catch rain by placing a towel across the deck to dam the rain runoff and direct it into the water tanks and placing buckets under the side and back screens (water runs off the bimini) which have varying degrees of success. Having no cover over the front cabin hatches means that i am up & down half the night either opening them to catch the breeze or closing them to keep the rain out. John has just done a flick with a small lure again to no avail but the pelicans moved in and did all right. They are always on the look out for fish working then make dive bomb attacks. The pelicans are brown & white (see photo). There is a fish farm company based here and there are several enclosures of "Cobia" in the bay. The work boats come out every day and feed the fish with pellets and maintain the structures (see photo). The sunsets continue to be speccy and always offer the opportunity to take photos whilst drinking a gin & tonic & between games of backgammon. It's a hard life but we're coping.
