it looks like we will be arriving on Friday as we are not making good enough time to arrive at the entrance to Havannah Pass by first light on Thursday. The wind has dropped to around 10 knots and we have had some rain showers overnight. The forecast shows winds of 15 knots tomorrow so we hope it is correct. Visibility isn't great and at midday we are surrounded by misty fog. A tanker passed us a couple of hours ago and we could just see its outline even though it was only 1.5 nm away.
When we left Beqa Island last week the villagers gave us two bunches of lady finger bananas, so we now have rapidly ripening bananas everywhere. It is very likely that they will be confiscated at Noumea so we are trying to eat as many as we can, banana custard last night, banana pancakes this morning, but there are only so many bananas you can eat.
