As expected the trip from Providencia to the point where we turned the corner of Nicaragua/Honduras was pretty rough - not a lot of fun at all. We reached our waypoint at 15:20N 82:20W just after 3pm this afternoon, and then turned NW towards the Vivorillo Islands. This is a much better angle to sail, wind just behind the beam and much smaller seas and lighter winds. We are currently sailing along at around 6 knots about half a mile off the port beam of Arwen. We fell behind them last night and it took us all day to catch up with them again - it is good to have them here with us. We have only seen one other boat, looked like a fishing boat on the banks, but other than that it is very quiet out here.
We would have liked to have had the time to stop at the Vivorillos but we will pass just under them at around 1pm or so tonight. There is a chance of a few squalls tonight so we will have to keep a watch out for them. For the first 24 hours of this trip we have done 150 nm, averaging 6.2 knots. The remainder of the trip will probably be a little slower with hopefully better conditions than we have just been through.
