Newhaven is a sheltered bay in the southern part of the Belize mainland. We had decided to stay here for a couple days before we were due to meet up with Marla and Eli. When we arrived, 'Jodi M' was already at anchor having taken half the time to get there than we did. We set ourselves up then pulled out the bottle of bubbles and toasted yet another country on our adventures.

Beautiful afternoon and only 2 other boats in the anchorage.

We did a bit of exploring in the dinghy and came across many reminders of the habitation of this bay by 'Hard Luck Charlie', including, mango trees, pineapples, coconuts, garden plants, a rail slipway and the remains of his home.

Bright orange starfish were scattered throughout the seagrass beds

Not quite ripe yet but there were several immature pineapples scattered throughout the undergrowth

Full moon (not a bad photos considering a rocking boat and no tripod)

We didn't hear or see 'Iguana Dance' on Saturday so made the call to move to Placencia on Sunday. We later learnt that they had gone past on Saturday and called frequently on the radio but we were monitoring Ch16 and they were calling on Ch68. That plus a bit of miscommunication and we missed each other. Our trip to Placentia was a bit exciting and the photo of the clouds below should have told us something.

Lovely sunrise but clouds building and a squall out to sea on the far right.
