We have finally organised our blog so this is our first entry. We left the marina at Shelter Bay on Tuesday 19th after lunch and motored to a couple of small islands two hours north of the canal breakwater called Isla Naranjo. We were the only boat at he anchorage which was really nice for a change after a month in the marina, but we could see several massive ships anchored waiting to transit the canal. We left the next morning after cleaning the props (they grow a nice crop of barnacles and weed in the marina) and motored to Portobello. We don't do much sailing here as there was very little wind and what there was was right on the nose. We have anchored on the other side of the harbour away from the township as it is supposed to be a little less rolly. We intend to stay around here for a few more days until we have confirmation of our flights back home in October and then we are off to Isla Linton, a couple of hours up the coast, before heading back to the San Blas Islands. We are thinking of heading to Bocas del Toro at some stage for a few weeks, it is near Costa Rica and is about 24 hours sail from here. We are sending this from Captain Jack's, a bar that has wifi internet access in Portobello, but after we leave here we will have to rely on using the Iridium Satellite phone to update the blog. We will get our position mapping feature going soon so you will be able to see where we are on google maps.
