The winds have returned thank goodness and we are now averaging 5.5 to 6 knots and have done 132nm in the past 24 hrs. Not a screaming pace but comfortable. We are sailing on the Genoa only, which has been tied to the starboard rail to keep it 'held out' as there is no pole. Also, we don't have a screecher/spinnacker which would be more suited to downwind sailing. Our heading remains at 247 deg with a COG of 270 deg on course to pass just north of the Tuomoto's, 2139 nm or a bit over 2 weeks away if we can maintain this speed. Here's hoping. The Outhaul on the main has frayed 2 more times requiring it to be cut away and retied. This has been a classic demonstration as to why not to purchase cheap line. It can't hack the pressure. A Japanese fishing vessel passed 1nm behind us yesterday, which caused a bit of interest for awhile. We had a baked leg of lamb last night for dinner, which is a treat and reminds us of home. Lots of flying fish this morning but none of these or squid on deck. Our progress has been steady but we are eating away at the miles.
