Not a lot to report since our last post. We are staying here for a bit longer than planned as we have to have some unforeseen dental work done in Colon. We will catch a bus into Colon from here on Thursday morning and get back in the afternoon. We are also going to talk to a sail maker here about a rain catcher. Our regular blue tarp didn't survive the bit of a blow we had the other night. This was the first real windy squall we have experienced at anchor and was a little nail biting but the anchor held well. We have visited a marina in the next bay called Panamarina. The boats are on moorings and most have been left while their owners return home for a few months. To get there we travel in the dinghy via a narrow channel through the mangroves (see photo) which is really quite spectacular. There is a restaurant there, run buy the French owners, and we had a wonderful lunch there last Saturday. You don't expect to find a French Restaurant in the middle of the mangroves and with magnificent food to boot. We are heading back there today for another meal and to use the internet ($3 per hour). Yesterday we ventured out to the passage between the mangroves and Isla Mamey to a coral reef and sea grass beds where we had a snorkel (See Photo). Saw some tropical fish (not very big) and a large Barracuda. The coral is patchy & not nearly as impressive as the reefs at home. We also went for a blat up to Isla Grande which is a couple of miles up the channel to the north of here. There were people (tourists & weekenders) everywhere, with panga's going back & forward between the Island and the main land. Some seriously impressive houses along the shore line.
Hi to all. John & Sue
