Making slow progress, light winds for the past couple of days. Only 212 nm in the last 48 hours, about 4.4 knots average, so we aren't setting any records. Fatu Hiva is 200 nm to the west of us now, pity we aren't going to stop there. Bit of excitement this morning, a mahi mahi was chasing the flying fish behind the boat and one of them hit Nigel in the back as he sat at the helm station. We have been taking a slightly northerly course more towards the Marquesas over the past couple of days due to the wind direction, but have just changed to a more SW course directly towards our waypoint which is just north of Takaoa atoll in the Tuamotus, just over 600 nm away. We intend to have a short stop at one of the northern atolls, not sure which one just yet, maybe Rangiroa. The girls are keen on finding some black pearls which the Tuamotus are renowned for. No fish for the past couple of days, we have all four lines out but are probably still going too slow to be effective. Conditions are still very comfortable, one of the benefits of light winds, nice sunny days and beautiful nights. For those of you who have heard of the "Green Flash", the green flash of light which is supposed to appear momentarily when the sun sets, we are now happy to report after numerous afternoons watching to see if it is true or not that it is indeed true. We saw a quite vivid green flash two days ago which lasted for a couple of seconds so we are now firm believers in this phenomenon.
