Conditions have been spectacular over the last couple of days. Winds have been S to SSW at 10 - 18Kts with calm seas and very little swell. We have done 185nm in the last 24 hrs (7.7kts ave) and it has been very comfortable sailing. We have changed our waypoint to pass to the north of the Tuamotu island group at a heading of 240 deg M with 2600nms to go. We will not stop unless we really have to as this island group are also an issue for Sth Africans, which is a disappointment for the girls as we were hoping to trade for some black pearls. That will have to wait until we bring our boat across in a couple of years. I am sitting here writing this as the first tinge of daylight is marking the horizon. I have taken lots of sunrise and sunset photos so expect a few to be posted when we get back to civilisation. We are entertained each day with the antics of the flying fish who come shooting out of the water and fly for many feet before diving back into the waves. At times there is a whole school of them that leave the water being chased by larger fish (Mahi Mahi, Tuna etc). We have not been fishing over the past few days as there are still 4 feeds in the freezer. Miss Kitty made Brownies yesterday which was a real treat. We are going to have to make up the rest of the Brownie and muffin mixes over the next week and freeze them before the remaining eggs go off. We are getting through the fresh fruit and veg and getting down to the longer lasting veg (potatoes, pumpkin, chokoes, etc). We have frozen the fresh beans, capsicum and carrots in an attempt to keep them longer. The colour on the horizon is becoming stronger and is going to be yet another glorious one. There are 2 planets in alignment in the eastern sky as well. You don't get to see this sort of stuff normally, so I am finding very special. We are all well and enjoying the ride. The girls continue to rule the evening 'Sequence' game challenge and the boys continue to be stunned and amazed (not at our skill but at the number of Jacks we get). We found 37 squid on deck this morning - a new record (hope we found them all because we will start to smell them in a day or 2). Haven't sighted another boat (either radar or AIS) although we know 'Tranquility' and another 43' cat are somewhere to the north of us. It's an unreal sensation being surrounded by such a large expanse of water and being the only ones for miles and miles.
