Well.. we have had a sample of the weather we
can expect in the red sea. We have been motoring into headwind of 15-20kts
and heavy seas... rather lumpy.
I went forwards at one stage and realised the the
forward hatch was not properly closed and we had seas coming into the forward
cabin and soaked everything..
this is really turning out to be a rather wet
passage!!!
as the lower dinette table fastenings broke it was
lying on the floor upside down and I realised how dangerous this was as I nearly
got empailed on the let sticking out.
a bit bruised but noting broken as I managed to
steady myself. we now have the table in the low position changing the
lower dinette into a big bed, so no danger to anyone.
we all had some sleep.. once you get very
tired it seems you can sleep no matter what.
Now the sun is out and the wind has dropped a
bit.. around 12-15 kts.
We have spoken to 'Blue Magic' who are a day
ahead of us and they now have N NW wind and calmer seas - so the end is in
sight.
Some of the other boats are complaining about a
very uncomfortable passage being thrown all over the place but 'Island
Kea' is taking this all in her stride and looking after us well.
We had Spaghetty cabonara last night and I heard
that many of the other boats have resorted to tins only as it is too
uncomfortable to cook.
roll on next 12 hours or so and we hope to see some
better winds.... :-)
