We have arrived in Galapagos and are now safely at
anchor. :-)
Last night was a bit more interesting than we
anticipated. We turned the engine on and then realised that we had a
problem. There was a lot of wining noise and smell of burning
rubber.
We were therefore not able to put the engine
on. As we did not want to arrive in the dark, we were trying to go
as slowly as possible and sometimes in the wrong direction to kill
time.
If you want to go slowly when sailing - it is
pretty impossible!!!
Once it was light this morning we put out more sail
and headed in. Steve did some adjustments to the alternator charging
and once we put the engine on this morning all was well so we were able to motor
into the anchorage.
A lot of the yachts, about 7 in total arrived
within 2 hours first thing this morning and quite a few were here
already.
We think we did pretty well getting here in 6 days
and sailed all the way. we could have arrived in the middle of the night,
but it seemed a bit unnecessary.
Now over to some maintenance - get watermaker
working properly with spares Tony from BWR brought out for us and then for some
visiting of bars and touring the islands :-)
