Last night it blew up a bit after midnight so it was all hands on deck to get the cruising chute down.  Tom succeeded to pull the snuffer down after a couple of attempts and we decided to sail on Genoa only for the rest of the night as we felt it was not safe to start playing with the spinnaker pole in the dark with the boat rolling all over the place.
So not a peaceful night with a lot of rolling and banging.
We have now had 18 nights at sea and we are aware that we are getting pretty tired of being at sea.
The freezer has completely defrosted now so the rest of the meat is in the fridge.
We will probably invite a few people for dinner so that we don't need to throw any food away but that in it self could be quite good fun.
We still have plenty of beer and wine left so we are in a good position to entertain  (as long as people do not ask to have a shower, but people do not normally do that when coming for dinner :-)  )

We sent a descripton of our problem with the generator to an Onan agent in the UK and to my brother Einar (currently stuck in Denmark because of the volcanic activity) and have had some very encouraging feedback including possible diagnostics and offer from the agent to send us list of spares and diagrams for areas in question.  It seems likely that we can still get spares.

So we are feeling a lot more positive about the possibility of getting this fixed.
It is likely that we need to wait until Tahiti to get this fixed but that means just coping for 3 weeks without it.
We had finished filling the watertanks before it broke down and we still carry 60 litres on deck which we got from Galapagos so putting things into perpective (not easy when tired at sea) we are not doing too badly.
I suppose having showers every other/third day is no hardship considering other posibilities but I am not planning to write a book titled '3 sweaty people in a boat'.
Steve and Tom can hopefully get some power cables at our next destination and fit the inverter we are carrying so that we can run the watermaker without a generator (we brought it from the UK for just this purpose, just did not anticipate to need to use it!!!!).
We can live without a freezer and other comforts, but really need to be able to make water.

Despite not a lot of sleep last night - positive to know that we only have 2 more nights left at sea.

On Sunday there is a welcome party with local dancing, lunchtime drinks followed by lazing by pool followed by rally brief and pig roast and entertainment so lots to look forward to.

so arriving Saturday and having a good night sleep followed by a social day on Sunday sounds perfect.
I am sure we will feel much happier once we have stepped on land again..
