Island Kea II left Gibraltar at about 10.30 on the 11th of September bound for the Canaries, but nearly had to turn back within half an hour when the engine charge voltage went over 16V - risking frying all electronic systems. The problem was traced to the interaction between a newly installed wind generator and the not so "smart" controller on the high ouput alternator. By switching off the wind generator we were back in business. Our trip was uneventful but dull , mostly motoring in F1 -2 about 30 to 80 miles off the Moroccan coast. A few Whales and Dolphins , but little to see until Lanzarote came into sight on day 4.

We chose Marina Rubicon on the south coast , 28 51 N 13 49 W, a very modern marina in the designer style of Lanzarote - plenty of up market shops and restaurants but the only Chandlers have gone bust and shut down.
