Yesterday
we were flying the poled out JIb and main, but decided after lunch to jibe and
have the sails the other way round. We also had to drop the roller reefing
jib as both sheeting lines were getting a bit frayed. This went OK apart
from the facts that there were two accidents. Caroline was on the wrong
side of the jib
when it came up and twisted/bruised her knee as she was pushed against the
safety lines. She used icepacks for the rest of the day and then knee
support. She is much better but it is still tender.
Steve was
moving the running backstay when it bashed him on the head. Luckily it
missed his eye and he has a small cut above the eye which was cleaned and then a
plaster. Hopefully no lasting damage done in either case. This
really brings it home how dangerous it can be to be on a boat.
We are
still under the same sail configuration, it is too windy for the Parasailor or
the Cruising chute.
We are now
still hopeful that we will arrive tomorrow afternoon.
As I write
this, the autopilot has stopped working again!! I just hope it is
something we can fix as otherwise 3 of us would need to hand steer as Caroline
would not be able to steer wiht her swollen knee.
So I'd
better get back to emptying the aft locker so we can take a look...
