Last night on my watch we got cougt in a big squall.  It seems that the radar is no longer working properly and not picking up these massive squalls and rain.
It was very dark, no moon or stars so no prior warning..  wind just started picking up and up and it got to 30 kts with massive heavy rain..
Island Kea was sailing beautifully at 9.5 kts but I was praying that the wind would not get any stronger and this time my prayers were answered.

Once I went to bed, a nasti reminder that the leak in the cokpit has not been properly fixed - need to do this in Sri Lanka..  raing dripping on the bed again
but I was so exhausted that I just slung over a couple of towels and went to sleep.

The answer to the question of how many nights can one have not much sleep and get tired enough to sleep through anything..  the answer is 3!!

we are hoping to get to Sri Lanka on Monday, weather and wind permitting as after that we can expect wind on the nose which is not good.
