Island Kea II

Well - it is now the evening before the big
crossing which starts tomorrow at 1 pm with 230 other yachts.
We have two crew with us, Tom and Caroline.
We have been working together on the boat and provisioning for nearly two
weeks.
It was great to go out for a sail yesterday, we
went out to try our parasailor which is a large sort of spinnekar which will
enable us to make good progress down wind.
The Freezer and Fridge are full of food and the
boat is nearly ready to go.
The weather forecast is for reasonable winds and we
hope the tradewinds will give us a safe passage. This leg will be between
2600 and 2900 miles long, depending on the route we take.
I think we are all feeling a bit apprehensive, but
this is understandable. The longest we have spent at sea so far is 4
nights and we assume this passage will take about 21 days which is a lot
longer...
Even though we have all been working hard, we have
also been commitied to the many social functions available which has been fancy
dress parties, happy hours, etc.
Please take a look at website www.worldcruising.com/ARC as we will
be reporting positions daily to them and they are posted... but we will
also try to send information about our progress to this blog on a regular basis
assuming
we have no problems with the iridium
phone..

Our upper seating area
has an oil painting which was painted by Halla who was at college with me in
Iceland and this was my 50th birthday present. Every good yacht has to
have an oil painting..
