Last night we started getting into the bumpy and
windy weather system north of Columbia.
We were heavily reefed but had to reduce even more
in order to allow the windwane to cope. I still had speeds up to 9.5 kts
on my watch. the problem comes when there is a strong gust
of wind and a large wave which picks the boat up and swings it in the wrong
direction followed by another wave.
It is amazing how it is possible to sleep in rough
conditions if one is tired enough.
we have now 580 miles to go, ETA currently 14th of
Feb. we are trying to improve on this but do not know if it is
possible....
Most of the Raly boats will complete their
transit tomorrow, so we are a bit behind but catching
up.....
