We have been sailing nicely for the last couple of days but yesterday put a bit of a damper on things.  The generator stopped working 5 minutes after it was turned on in the evening.
Steve and Tom have spent all day today in the engine room trying to sort out what has gone wrong, but the conclusion is that it is probably something fundamental which will at least require spare parts, if they are available as this is now 20 years old.
The engine is being run to charge the batteries but the biggest problem is that the watermaker is 220v so only runs off the generator.

This dream of sailing round the world is turning into a bit of a nightmare.  We did not envisage sailing round the world whilst working on constant repairs.

We hope to arrive in Marquesas on Sunday in time for the rally pig roast and briefing.
Fingers crossed that the engine and alternator keep running.

In order to save on electricity the freezer is now off and so is sattelite phone etc...  basically everything which is not absoloutly not necessary.

Fingers crossed that this is the last thing to go wrong and that we can get it fixed in Tahiti..    there is no one to do repairs in Marquesas
