Position as at 12.00 midday UTC 1st of
24 hours have been good. We flew the parasailor yesterday and made good
speed 7-8 kts. Unfortunately we found that the spinnaker pole pin which
bolts it to the mast keeps sliding down but luckily we spotted this before the
spinnaker pole came crusing down which could have caused a lot of damage
to us or the boat especially if it had fit our big front
the without a pole for the rest of the day, and we are currently working on a
solution this morning how to secure the pole...
to main and JIb for the night last night, but we still made reaonable
progress. I had a lot of sleep as I was on the 6-9am watch which is great
and as a bonus I had not rain during this time. We are planning to move
the ships clock back one hour as it is getting light into the evening and sun
coming up pretty late on UTC. However any time I quote in the blog will be
UTC (=British winter time) to make things easier.
remember if I said earlier that the problem with the compass was sorted by
taking it out and fitting it back to front. Not ideal but perfectly usable
and we will get is looked at the other end (no doubt with lots of other
not decided which is a faster sail to use, the parasailor or the cruising chute,
it probably depends on the point of sail but we keep playing wiht them.
Both can be flown without a pole but it is a better sail with the
sunny again today - so bikini is out. Fishing line is now out and I would
love to have some pan fried fresh fish tonight, but we shall see. We
have seen some flying fish this morning and we were hoping to catch whatever it
is they were trying to get away from.
we are really starting to look forward to the rum punches we will get in St
Lucia and we are looking at the sailing trip as an opportunity to de-tox on
alcohol and catch up on sleep as much as possible.
slipped in the cockpit a couple of days ago and she has a really good bruise on
her bottom, I have no intention to compete with that so she wins hand
All in all
we are still in good shape and now more positive that we will get there before
18th of Dec but time will tell.
