After two days of R&R in Santiago, and all flight preparations
completed, we had a memorable good by Madeleine Du Pont
at Tobalada airport, the downtown airport of Santiago.

After takeoff we flew first a VFR section and climbed to our
cruising flight level 100 over the International Airport of Santiago.

We then joined IFR en route, along the Pacific coast, direction
north 2'200 Km along the Chilean Coast line.
Our Airnav route was about 20 to 20 KM's off the coast over
the open sea, along the Chilean Coast, and we admired the high
raising mountain chain of the Andes to our right in the east with
its snow covered mountain tops, as we cruised along.

The weather was totally overcast below our wings for the first
6 hours.

We landed safely at Arica International Airport in the extreme
north of Chile, right on the southern border of Peru after a total
flight time of 7 hours in the air.

Tomorrow 24th of April, we continue our flight past Lima, along
the pacific Coast of Peru to Trujillo.
