Title: 26 NORFOLK ISLAND, YYSNF - 12 /14 .1.2009 - 431NM- 3:14

"29:02.6S 167:56.1E"

Yesterday we moved on to Norfolk Island, an Island of volcanic origin, rather flat and very green and fertile.
This is the Island where Captain Cook made the first European discovery in 1774.

As a colonial penitentiary between 1814 and 1855, this was definitely not a very friendly place to be at.
In 1855 the Island began its return to paradise with the arrival of descendants of the Bounty Mutineers, whose home of Pitcairn Island 6'000 Miles became overcrowded.
The families of those early settlers make up a third of the actual population of the Island.

Tomorrow morning we take again the wings and move on in northerly direction to French Caledonia.
