Day 16, Saturday 01AUG

Dakar/Senegal – Lanzerote/Canary Islands

(06:44H)

Wake up call was at 5.30AM, breakfast at 6. As the restaurant was not yet open, it was served on a tray in the recption hall.
At the airport not everything was awake either, but HB-PON was ready waiting. On our arrival, the Formalities were dealt
with in a very efficient and friendly way. The Landing and parking fees cost us a mere $ 12.00.

Our friendly bus driver bid us farewell and with a short time we were climbing to our assigned level.

The weather could not have been better. Flying past Port Louis in northern Senegal and crossing into Mauritania, then Nouakchott,
the capital – nothing but desert for hours, as we progressed north into Moroccan’s Western Sahara. Leaving the African coast
behind us at Cap Boujdour, we set direct course to the island of Lanzarote in the Canaries. Here the first feeling of European
organization. What? The toilets at the airport are working!
