Safely crossing the Rocky Mountain range in acceptable weather conditions was our plan for Sunday.

As expected,
weather reports predicted the winter conditions in the south, to slowly move north over the Rockies that day, and therefore we
flight planned IFR with a route north of Salt Lake City, and then
eastward to North Platte, Nebraska, withits ILS approach.

The whole flight that day was mostly in VMC conditions, flying at altitudes of up to 14,000 feet to cross some beautiful sights of all the snow and
ice-covered mountains in
that region. Luckily we planned to land at North Platte and the ILS there became very handy, as that part of Nebraska
was covered with a thick foglayer at the time of our arrival.

After refuelling the aircraft, the FBO proposed to put IIB-PON in its heated hangar for the night at the cost of $40.-

I thankfully refused that kind offer, to save some money and not waste addi
tional time at the airport, as we were both rather tired from the previous
late
night at Las Vegas and today's long flight.
