A pleasant mooring, on the river within view of the next lock, but with a good view and sunset. The town is very pretty (see below). As our canal guide says, from about Chalon or Macon the architecture changes, from the shallow pitched roofs with round roman tiles of the Mediterranean to the steeply pitched roofs with flat tiles of norther Europe. We have really noticed it these last couple of days. The Capitainerie is only open restricted hours and the showers too, but the facilities are excellent.
