We left Portals Vells with a good breeze and sailed across the Bay of Palma on one tack to Cap Blanco. Then the wind became difficult and we motored to La Rapita. This is a tacht harbour or marina much promoted by the Cruising Association's very good Honorary Local Representative, Jeff Kempton. We had arranged for the necessary spare part for our cooker to be delivered here because of the connection with him. Sadly we were not impressed. This is a dowdy marina with undrinkable water, extremely expensive, and totally lacking in charm. The only thing to be said for it is the laundry is one of the cheapest we have come across. The spare part arrived in the morning and we were glad to get away by lunchtime. The best thing is, the cooker now works. It should be noted here that we have been without a cooker for two weeks, and during that time Faith has made the most delicious, varied and satisfying meals with salads, raw vegetables, bought cooked pulses, and heaven knows what. The gods must have envied our diet. But it is good to have a the option of hot food too. T
