In a small marina in the river which marks the border between Portugal and Spain. We crossed the bar at the mouth of the river at half tide. The sea was smooth, and we crossed with a good metre and a half under our keel, and the current against us was not nearly as strong as the almanac suggested. Every harbour, port or anchorage has been completely different in character. Many have surprised us with their charm. But last night's anchorage was exceptionally beautiful and we were sorry not to spend longer there. But we calculated today that we can make it all the way to La Manga and the Mar Menor, our ideal and our original plan. So now we are determined to do it, and to enjoy Cadiz and Gibraltar on the way, and see friends in Motrill we hope. So tomorrow, Spain.
