St. Angelo,  Ischia.

Arrived there just before lunch time today.

Magnificent island, stepping out from the water…  beautiful water…

Today is Sunday, and the first weekend of August. The first weekend of ‘holiday month’ in Italy…  It is interesting (?) to see the huge fleet of all kind of motor boats attacking the island from all directions.  They start to arrive shortly after 1000, and feeling most  of the bay by noon….  And then, starting about 1800 they are leaving the island… with a just a few bigger boats  at the bay…

The weather is hot.  Based on the information I have — the small local High is formed to the SW from us.  Yesterday, as it was forming — I have seen the wind ’suitable for sailing… ‘, but…  right on the noise where we supposed to go… Plus significant swell…. The windy.com was saying / lying (?) that it would be the  beam reach sailing today…. Well… indeed. There have been the right wind at the right direction. For the whole 20 minutes… and then it has vanished slowly…

The good part about the situation with weather…  The guy we met in Palma, who gave us some information about the points to visit, said - ‘ … oh, well… There is no winds at those places… at least, when you need them,  or there are some — but right on the noise… ‘. So, I’ve been mentally ready…
The next step in keeping mental health — to learn to stop to think about the price of the diesel.  Or better about the prices all together…

On Procida, we got acquainted with the local fisherman. The fact that I’ve make on the boat all way from Canada — impressed him a lot. To bad the language of gestures has not been rich enough to tell the whole story. ;-).  But since our acquaintance, every day he is passing out boat in the morning — he shared some fish with us…
Lovely.  Part of the real cruising life…

It is hot outside. A very, very light breeze helps… But during the day, the boat is getting really hot…  And then, at  night — the wind is disappearing… making sleeping a bit challenging.

But no complains from me. But there are some complains from the boat… A few days ago, the angry water maker spilled some salt water on the fridge box, aiming at electronics block.  Managed to succeed… and took it down…. At the beginning, I did not pay too much attention to it… hoping to rectify the issue with the compressor on the engine… But then compressor on the engine ‘revolted’ — complaining why it him, who always doing the job when the cooling is in need…
In short, I’m in the middle of complex ’negotiations’ with all parties involved… ;-)

All news so far.  On the coming schedule — after the daily boaters gone — to go to explore the shore… I was told that there is a hot spring just on the beach nearby…
We will see!

Those are all news for now.

Talk to you soon,
M.

Procida.

Arrived from the Napoli to Procida early yesterday evening.

What a pleasant place!

I’ve been afraid to see the increasing crowds of people on the streets… But instead, for the reason unknown — it is much less people around… May be indeed, because the holiday season started, and people left somewhere else ?   No idea.

The reason to come here — just to get away from the loud and crowded place in front of Napoli centre.  To swim, to  rest a bit…
Why not Capri ?  The last time I’ve been staying in the South harbour on Capri — it is  full Zoo of local day boats… anchors on top of the anchors… The line to come to the shore on dingi…. ( Forget about getting on shore… )  Seems like the place getting more and more touristic each year… ( At least, that what the locals are saying… )

But after the ‘day hours’ — the place is bouncing back, to some sort of occupied, but not over loaded anchorage…

May be one more attempt after some time…

But for now — the plan is Procida, and then Ischia.  ( When the proper weather permits… ).

That is all for now.

Talk soon,
M.

St. Lucia harbour, in front of the marina.

I’ve sent  a few messages, just to put points on the map around the Napoli.  The points, we have visited during the last week or so.

One of the challenges with the blog now — no real editing features, no way to reset the message, to clean the message, to do anything with it…
Put it a context with bad communication, hot weather, no wind or too much wind, etc….

So, at some point I will put t he right dates, the real facts.. .

In short,  everything is going good. Some technical challenges… which I’m trying to fix… But otherwise,  we are holding!

Everything is OK and under control,

Talk soon.
