Five days in sea… We had remarkable time so far.
Of course, the boat showed her character.
Shortly after leaving Grenada — attempt to use the pole to support the yankee on the run finished in stuck and broken car on the track, cascade of bearing balls falling down, and 3 hours of bouncing in a chair around the mast… But, since being fixed — everything is working well.
Managed to get the sail locker finally, and check what other sails I have on board … Tried a small jib, on removal forestay… That may be useful if one day I have to run against big winds….
Gennaker — I have to work out a taste to it… The boat, with that big balloon — looks so nice…. But then the wind starts to blow… And… Well, I have to work out the way to balance the boat properly… Otherwise — it is so easy to create a real mess… But so far — I managed to recover…
The life on board is going in good rhythm. Though the crew is present on the current leg, and we are going along pretty good — at least, as I see it — most of the boat handling is going in ‘single handler mode’. I’m taking care about the boat it nights, and most of the day… Though all discussions and help during trying new sails or sailing techniques — are really priceless!
The boat still throwing challenges at me — to fix this , to fix that…. But nothing serious so far, or critical. Most of the repairs I’m able to do nearly immediately.
The unresolved ( yet ) challenge is fishing. All attempts to get the fish are ending either in loss of equipment, or the fish trying to eat me… ;-)
Though the fish is definitely winning the game until now, I still have a hope to learn how to fish properly.
