Friday 18th March

With Brian and Sheila we set off to drive 48 kilometres west of Salalah to Mughsail to view the blowholes. After driving for two hours we reached a boarder post, when we asked the armed guard where we were he replied, the Yemen boarder, oops, somehow we had missed the turning for Mughsail.

The Sarfait Road that leads to Yemen.

The road is an impressive feat of engineering, zig-zagging 1000 metres to the top of the cliff.

Herding goats across the road.

Back at Mughsail, the rock pavement is potholed with blowholes and are active year-round, they're not blowing today though!

Spectacular limestone cliffs.

Paul and Brian...and two local Omanis enjoying the view

Back on the Sarfait Road heading back towards Yemen we turn off at Fizayah and drive six kilometres down the steep cliff face to some secluded sandy coves.

Beautiful empty sandy coves....Paul went diving for crayfish.

On the way back to the boat we stopped off for a snack at a cafe, just enough room for us with only one table and four chairs.

A typical local cafe...A perfect end to the day with Sheila on Sol Maria.
