Keppel Bay Marina is without a shadow of a
doubt the best marina we have ever stayed in!
Now that is a bold statement I know but it
has been an absolute dream staying here, from the moment we arrived we noticed
the service was good but each day it just kept getting better and better
and I feel it deserves a huge mention. It started with the happy and welcoming
staff helping us with our lines as we berthed and the check-in procedure then
went on to be a doddle. A reception evening was put on for us, lovely food was
served and a young man kept bringing us new cold beers free of charge. The staff
went out of their way to help with our chart plotter and refrigeration problems,
seeking out chandlers, spare parts and specialist dealers. Each morning we'd
have papers delivered to the boat along with various gifts including caps,
cakes, fruits and jellys. When walking to or from the boat if they were passing
we hopped into their golf buggy for a lift. The list is endless!
Before leaving we were asked to complete a
questionnaire, one of the questions asked ' Is there anything you could
recommend for Keppel Bay to do or change?' The answer was no, everything was
perfect!
Tony (BWR Director) with Keppel
Bay managers. Francis in the centre couldn't have done more for us!

The bridge connecting Keppel
Bay to the mainland...........The marina offices
Unfortunately all good things
have to come to an end at some point and at 06:00 on Friday morning we slipped
our lines and snook out of the marina before sunrise. Singapore has been
a lovely stopover after Indonesia. Some of the architecture is incredible,
even just alongside the marina there are new bendy buildings being constructed.
Possibly most impressive is the building to the right below with a ship spanning
across three buildings. It is home to the worlds largest outdoor swimming pool,
I believe it is 200 metre long!
Old and new
Checking out was a new and
interesting procedure for us. We made our way down through the Sisters Fairway
for a couple of miles then called Immigration on the radio, we were told to stop
the boat in the channel and wait. A few minutes later a boat came out to us and
collected our passports and ships papers in a fishing net! The immigration
official completed the relevant paper work inside, called our names individually
over the loudspeaker to identify us and passed everything back in the same net.
It wasn't even 7 am yet and we felt we'd had an action packed day already. Next
stop............to be decided.
