After our morning at the Maiden Lake we
motored through the beautiful Langkawi archipelago up to Kuah, the
administrative stop for customs, immigration and harbour clearances. The
administrative facilities is our main reason for coming, well, that and the duty
free alcohol! We were all absolutely shattered as we hadn't slept the night
before because of sailing through the night so it wasn't long before we were in
bed.
We haven't really got the time to start
exploring Langkawi, which is a shame as we have heard nothing but good things
about the archipelago, in fact we've only planned to stay two nights.
The following day Amy and Jack cleaned the
boat from top to bottom and scrubbed the decks. The difference was incredible,
it's been so long since it was last done. Paul and myself went off to provision
the boat with food and drink and only managed to find drink. All the veg was old
and soggy, there were no meats, no cheeses, in fact not a lot of anything to be
honest. I'm going to have my work cut out trying to plan meals for the four of
us! Anyway, whilst we were doing that Amy did the rounds at the customs,
immigration and port captain and we were ready to leave on the next day, all
that was left to do was to fuel up before we left.
From here we'll be sailing to the Butang
Group of islands in Thailand, around 35 miles away. After checking out of
Malaysia we have 5 days in which to make our way through the islands to check in
to Thailand at Ao Chalong in Phuket.
