Sunday 6th February
After a whole day of clearing out on
Friday we were exhausted, but we now have domestic clearance enabling us to
travel along the coast to Mumbai. Many discussions
have taken place over the last week regarding the next stage of the rally and
the route that we should take. The meetings have taken place for a number of
reasons, the first one being the troubles in Egypt, secondly the increased
piracy threat in the Indian Ocean and thirdly fuel. I'm going to have to be
careful with my wording from now on as we really don't want a lot of information
to be in the public domain, and as such, from here onwards until Djibouti we
won't be giving our position.
We'll be travelling as a group with Blue
Magic, Sol Maria, Island Kea and Miss Tippy and should any problems arise we
will all be on hand to help one another. We plan to sail up to Mumbai as it is
high enough for us to cut across the top of the Indian Ocean and be away from
the bulk of the attacks but it is also a port where we can re-fuel as we are
likely to be in great need of it after looking at the weather conditions. Our
departure has been delayed by two weeks to see if the troubles in Egypt can
become any clearer as we don't want to run this gauntlet and find ourselves up a
dead end if they should close the Suez canal.
Cochin has been a very interesting stop
over, somewhere that took a bit of getting used to but we thoroughly enjoyed it.
I've even managed to have two crowns replaced, having broke one the other day
here in Cochin, and the other was a temporary one from the
Marquesas. I was quite skeptical when I set off in search of a dentist and
I never expected to find somewhere as good as I did. The dentist had
trained in America, the practice was first class and the work was a quarter
of the price that it would have been at home. I'm now
contemplating coming back here to have work done in the
future!
We now look forward to seeing another part
of India, an unexpected bonus!
Paul and Mark trying to figure
out how to work the fan as we melt in the heat...........Sol Maria trying to
extend their emergency visa at immigration - they failed and were made to
leave!
Nissam and Nazar will be sorely
missed - our stay would not have been the same without them!

Yet another beautiful sunset to
start our journey
