Gibraltar to Lanzarote - Day 4
30:58.624 N 011:28.742W Another foggy night last night, we couldn’t see any other
ships, we could just hear their fog horns! We have A.I.S ( Automatic
Identification System ) fitted on the boat which enables us to identify ships.
It gives you the ships name, size, speed, destination and heading. On the radar
we had a tanker on a collision course with us, so thankfully with the information
we had we were able to call him up on the VHF radio and he altered his course
for us. We heard him pass on our port side, but couldn’t see him as the
fog was so dense, very eerie! By early morning the sun had finally broken through the fog. The
sea was flat as a pancake so we spent the day motoring. It was a very different
day today compared to others on this crossing. We sunbathed and did some
fishing and caught another four, but with the freezer full they were thrown
back to live another day. Lucky things! It was a lovely evening, we stood on the bow with the sea still
flat as a pancake, not even a ripple, with the sun setting on the starboard
side and a rainbow and the moon on the port! What a picture and what a good
day! Confidentiality: This e-mail and its attachments are intended for the above named only and may be confidential.
